MOSCOW, December 26. /ITAR-TASS/. Head of the Russian Federal Biomedical Agency (FMBA) Vladimir Uyba said Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat died a natural death and no repeated examination was indispensable.

“We finished and everyone agreed with our examination. Switzerland made an ambitious statement. But it agreed with us and confirmed our conclusions,” Uyba said on Thursday.

“This is an absolutely fair investigation. No repeated examination is indispensable. So, the person died a natural death. No radioactive effects were revealed,” the Russian official said.

Replying to journalists’ question, the FMBA head said Palestine had not given a request to conduct a repeated expert examination of Arafat’s remains.

Arafat died at the age of 75 at the military hospital of Percy, Paris’ suburbs, on November 11, 2004. A year ago Arafat’s widow demanded the second examination be held. About 60 probes were taken. They were distributed between three research groups - the Swiss, French and Russian groups.

Swiss specialists said they had discovered polonium-201 in Arafat’s remains. According to their data, the dose exceeded the norm by 18 times.

However, French specialists denied that Arafat could be poisoned. They said the examination proved that Arafat died for natural reasons.
