Lithuania is finishing its term of rotating presidency of the EU
BRUSSELS, December 20. /ITAR-TASS/.Ukraine’s government has lost the European Union’s credit, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite said on Friday.
Europe is opened for Ukraine, but not for the government of the country, she said.
The European Union is currently studying the failure of its policy towards Ukraine and the attempts to work out a new EU Eastern strategy at the summit currently underway in Brussels.
The priority of Lithuania’s presidency in the EU was the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, a high-ranking European diplomat told Itar-Tass.
The EU failed to carry out this task, the diplomat said, adding that now Lithuania should explain the causes.
