Ukraine urges foreign states not to interfere in domestic developments
KIEV, December 19. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has urged foreign states not to interfere in domestic processes underway in the country.
“Over the recent time, officials from some foreign countries and international institutions have been trying to directly participate in domestic political processes in Ukraine,” a ministry statement said on Thursday.
“With that in view, we call on all our foreign partners to remain objective and unbiased observers, demonstrate restraint in public assessments, be guided by underlying principles of international law and respect the sovereign right of the Ukrainian people to independently solve the issues of its domestic development,” it said.
The Foreign Ministry put particular emphasis on the importance of independent settlement of thorny issues in the domestic political life by the Ukrainian people in connection with offers “from certain foreign partners to mediate in the settlement of the situation in Ukraine, including with the participation of international organizations”.
“In the spirit of commitment to general European values, the Ukrainian society can arrive at a necessary compromise,” it said. “The Ukrainian president and representatives of all interested parties are already searching for ways to solve the existing situation, in particular within the framework of ‘Let us Unite Ukraine’ national round table,” the document said.
