BERLIN, December 16. /ITAR-TASS /. The third in German history “Grand coalition” consisting of conservative Christian Democratic and Christian Social Unions (CDU/CSU) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) has been officially legislated. Leaders of the three parties — Chancellor Angela Merkel, Horst Seehofer and Sigmar Gabriel —signed the coalition agreement in Berlin on Monday, creating a “black and red” government of Germany for the next four years.

Document consisting of 185 pages was entitled “Building the future of Germany”. It was formally signed almost three weeks ago. Then the coalition agreement was approved by governing bodies of the CDU/CSU and SPD, and then regular Social Democrats voted for it.

Merkel pledged coalition partners to treat them fairly. “On behalf of the Christian Democratic Union, I propose that we look forward to the work that we are to perform with commitment, and that we will be fair partners,” the Chancellor said just before signing the coalition agreement.

“The Grand coalition is a coalition for solving big tasks,” Merkel stressed. The German Chancellor and her new Cabinet will administer the oath on Tuesday.
