MOSCOW, December 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia to further provide humanitarian aid to Syria through international organisations and in the bilateral format, the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

On December 3, an Il-76 of the Russian Emergencies Ministry delivered 25 tonnes of food to the Syrian population in Latakia affected as a result of the domestic military conflict.

Russia will also help its citizens residing in Syria to leave that country for security reasons, if they wish, the ministry said.

In 2013 the Russian Emergencies Ministry sent over 200 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Syria and neighboring Lebanon and Jordan. Another 70 tonnes were intended for Palestinian refugees in Syria. The humanitarian consignment consisted of tents, electric generators, dishware, camp furniture, blankets, food and baby food.

The ministry’s planes brought around 900 citizens of Russia and the CIS back to their homeland.
