KIEV, December 03. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich has left for China on a state visit, the presidential press service reported on Tuesday.

On December 4 Yanukovich will meet the leadership of the provinces of Shaanxi and Xian. The Ukrainian president will visit China’s Terracotta Army of first emperor Qin. On December 5 Yanukovich will visit Beijing, the press service said.

The Ukrainian president will take part in the Ukrainian-Chinese business forum and visit the office of China International Radio.

“Under the visit’s agenda, Yanukovich is expected to have talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping in narrow and expanded formats. The Ukrainian president is due to meet the leadership of the Chinese government and parliament,” presidential chief of staff Sergei Levochkin said.

He said priority attention would be paid to prospects for developing Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation in trade, economic, investment, fiscal, energy, agrarian, scientific and technical fields.

Ukraine and China are planning to sign a five-year programme on strategic partnership and a treaty of friendship and cooperation.

On Monday, December 2, Yanukovich said he did not intend to give up the visit to China despite the situation in the country. “The situation is not so good for visits,” he said, adding “But I’ll go to China.”

Ukraine and China work out an investment project to build four plants to produce synthetic gas. “The project will allow us to build plants for synthetic gas production. The documents may be signed during my visit to China,” Yanukovich said.
