The Interior Ministry receives information from different sources about possible provocations

KIEV, December 03. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian Interior Ministry receives information from different sources about possible provocations at the parliament building and other government-owned institutions amid mass protests over the government’s decision to delay an association deal with the EU, the ministry’s press service reported on Tuesday.

“With that in view, the Interior Ministry takes necessary measures to protect public order as well as to ensure uninterrupted work of government institutions and access to them by their staffers,” it said.

The ministry appealed to participants in the rally “to be vigilant and remain unprovoked”.

At a meeting with EU ambassadors on Monday, Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov said “in case of an attempt to seize the Verkhovna Rada (parliament), law enforcement agencies will prevent it”. “We have no right to allow the seizure of the Verkhovna Rada, and police will act strictly in line with law,” the prime minister stressed.

On Tuesday, opposition figureheads Arseny Yatsenyuk (from the Batkivshchina Party), Vitaly Klitschko (UDAR) and Oleg Tyagnibok (Svoboda) intend to demand from the parliament to consider the situation in the country as well as to vote on a draft resolution on non-confidence in the Cabinet of Ministers with Nikolai Azarov at the head.
