WARSAW, November 22. /ITAR-TASS/. Poland is disappointed with Ukraine’s decision to delay the process of the European integration, Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said commenting on the decision of Ukraine’s government to suspend the work on the association agreement with the European Union.

“Poland, like the entire European Union, is disappointed Ukraine was unready to undertake efforts in modernisation,” he said.

Sikorski said the agreement’s text had been drafted fully during Poland’s chairing role in the organisation.

“It may be signed any time as Ukraine reiterates the issue of reforming its economy and the movement towards Europe,” the foreign minister added.

In a special statement, the Polish foreign ministry stresses it respects Ukraine’s decision as a sovereign state, though disappointed the process was suspended by the government at the final stage.

The foreign ministry said the decision could freeze for unclear time and could cause irreparable loss in the process of modernisation, reforms and democratisation, which Ukraine required now so much.

The statement reads the responsibility is fully with the Ukrainian authorities. Poland and the EU had been ready for a long-going compromise. Poland will continue to support establishment of good neighbourly relations with Ukraine and development of pro-European tendencies in the Ukrainian society.
