Russian corvette visits British port

The Soobrazitelny is to replenish its fuel reserves at the British port

KALININGRAD, October 24 (Itar-Tass) -The "Soobrazitelny" corvette of the Russian Baltic Fleet has visited the British sea port of Falmouth- the biggest word natural harbor, on Thursday, Press service Chief of the Western Military District for the Baltic Fleet Captain 2nd rank Vladimir Matveyev told Itar-Tass.

The Russian ship called at the Falmouth sea port on the way to its home sea port of Baltiysk after the Russian ship had ended its unofficial visit to Ireland.

The Soobrazitelny is to replenish its fuel reserves at the British port, and then it will head for the naval base of the Russian Baltic fleet in Baltiysk in the Kaliningrad region, Matveyev said.

The crew of the Russian ship is to prepare the ship for navigation in rough sea. On the way home the Russian corvette will cross La Manche, the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, where the waves are usually rough at this time of the year. The Russian crew will perform exercises, learning to survive at sea under rough weather and will make drills in air defense, in radiation, chemical, biological protection of the ship and hold anti- terrorist drills.

The Russian corvette is to return to the Russian sea port of Baltiysk on October 29.
