LONDON, October 9. (ITAR-TASS). A passenger of a small plane personally carried its landing at Humberside airport in the north-east of the UK instead of the pilot that lost consciousness during the flight, BBC reported on Wednesday.
After it became known that the pilot was ill, police and physicians, as well as two flight trainers were called to the airport. They helped the smart passenger land at the airport.
“He coped brilliantly with such a daunting task,” instructor Roy Murray commented the man’s actions. “Not knowing the plane’s system, he managed to land the aircraft almost blindly. He was calmed from the beginning, as panic would obviously not play into our hands.”
Meanwhile, Murray admitted that “without instructions the plane would just fall to the ground”.
