TEHRAN , August 27 (Itar-Tass) - Any armed intervention, any attack against Syria from outside would have “catastrophic effects on the entire region,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Aragchi told a news conference in Teheran on Tuesday.

“We resolutely warn of the gravest results of any armed intervention (in the Syrian conflict),” the diplomat said. He is certain that the consequences of such a move will not be confined to Syria’s territory, but certainly spread to the entire region.

Earlier, similar warnings addressed to countries pressing for a military solution of the Syrian crisis were issued by Iran’s spiritual leader Ali Khamenei, President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and many legislators.
