Largest world container tanker calls at port Vostochny in Primorsky territory

The ship will deliver containers that arrived by the Trans-Siberian Mainline from Russia and Europe in different ports of the Asia-Pacific Region

VLADIVOSTOK, July 10 (Itar-Tass) - The largest world container tanker with a tonnage of 18,340 units, the length of 399 metres and the height of 73 metres, called for the first time at the port Vostochny in Nakhodka to take container cargoes for the recipients in the countries of the Asia-Pacific Region on Wednesday.

The container carrier Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller completed the sailing trials two weeks ago. The Russian port became the first port it called in during the pilot voyage, press secretary of the Vostochny Stevedoring Company Nadezhda Baranova told Itar-Tass.

The ship will deliver containers that arrived by the Trans-Siberian Mainline from Russia and Europe in different ports of the Asia-Pacific Region. During the first mission the container carrier will visit Pusan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Tianjin, Hong Kong, Singapore and other big ports.

About 400,000 containers that are 39.3% more than in 2011 were delivered through the largest container terminal in Russia’s Far East at the port Vostochny in the previous year.

“From the beginning of the year the container turnover has been growing by 20-30%,” the press secretary said.
