WASHINGTON, November 8. /TASS/. The results of the midterm congressional elections have sent the United States back in time, US President Donald Trump said.

"America took a giant step back in history with the results of the last election — even the stock market, which has been a "rocketship" under "Trump," took a one day, 3 trillion dollar loss. But have no fear, we will be back, bigger and stronger than ever before!" he wrote on his Truth Social platform.

The United States held its midterm elections on Tuesday. Voters elected one-third of the Senate and the entire House of Representatives, as well as governors in 36 states and territories. Local elections were also held. Both chambers of Congress are currently controlled by the ruling Republican Party. The next Congress, the 120th, which will be formed following the elections, will begin its work on January 3, 2027. Democrats will hold majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the new Congress.
