LONDON, November 8. /TASS/. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Coordination Center (UKMTO) has informed, citing time-late reports, about incidents with two tankers in the Strait of Hormuz on November 7.
The first incident, marked as "suspicious activity" occurred eight nautical miles northwest of the city of Khasab in Oman. "Military authorities reported the Tanker is on fire which has resulted in the evacuation of the crew," it said.
In the second incident, a tanker "was struck by an unknown projectile while transiting outbound through the Strait of Hormuz." "All crew are safe and accounted for and there is no reported environmental impact at this time," it said.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite unites of the Iranian army) said on November 7 that two tankers had struck mines while trying to transit through the Strait of Hormuz along unauthorized routes. Both tankers had caught fire, it said, adding that the vessels were moving with their navigation systems switched off.
