WASHINGTON, November 6. /TASS/. The White House paid nearly $1.2 million for Starlink satellite internet services, even though US officials had said that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk provided them free of charge, The Washington Post (WP) reported.
According to contract documents reviewed by the newspaper, the US government agreed to pay SpaceX, starting in March 2025, to connect and maintain the network for the White House Communications Agency. It remains unclear whether these payments covered services that the US presidential administration said had been provided free of charge.
Earlier, a White House representative told The New York Times that Musk had donated Starlink services to the White House complex free of charge.
