Peace agreements on Gaza settlement not being implemented — Erdogan
The Turkish president stressed that "the largest genocide of modern times has taken place in Gaza"
ANKARA, November 6. /TASS/. Peace agreements in the Gaza Strip are not being implemented, which only leads to increased hatred and hostility, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at the TRT World Forum.
"The peace agreement on Gaza, for which we made great efforts to secure, is, unfortunately, not being implemented. The principle of honoring commitments, which underlies international relations, is not being put into practice. Everyone must understand that no problem can be solved this way. This only contributes to an atmosphere of hatred and hostility," the Turkish leader pointed out.
Erdogan stressed that "the largest genocide of modern times has taken place in Gaza." "Since October 2023, 75,000 people, most of whom were women and children, have been mercilessly killed as a result of Israeli attacks in Gaza. Another 176,000 people have been injured," he recalled.
The president also pointed to "one extremely telling and shameful fact" related to the deaths of media workers in the Middle East. "More than 270 journalists were killed during the genocide in Gaza," Erdogan emphasized.
According to him, "trust in international organizations that consider themselves authorities on press freedom, including the UN Security Council, must also be called into question."
Erdogan emphasized that current world events demonstrate the failure of the existing system of international relations. "It is not just us who see and understand one truth today: that today's problems cannot be solved with yesterday's solutions. We are all closely observing the impasse in which the current international system, created 81 years ago by the powerful and privileged, has found itself. If we look at the events unfolding primarily in our region, as well as in other parts of the world, it becomes clear that the system has, in fact, admitted its failure," the Turkish president concluded.
