Danny Danon noted in this connection that Iran continues to threaten the US

TEL AVIV, November 5. /TASS/. Israel's Permanent Representative to the UN Danny Danon said it's not his country's fault that fuel prices have risen in the US amid the confrontation with Iran and the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to his account, Washington alone decided to attack Iran, while Israel merely supported the move.

"I think it's unfortunate, and we saw it coming from different directions, that many made the linkage between the rising prices, mainly the oil prices, to the situation here in Israel. So, I think it's unfortunate. We know that the decision to attack Iran was the decision of the United States. It wasn't our decision. We supported the effort of the US. We think it was the right decision," he asserted in an interview with i24NEWS.

Danon noted in this connection that Iran continues to threaten the US. "It's very easy always to blame Israel for everything. But that's not the case," the diplomat added.

Commenting on discontent among the American people with the protracted confrontation with Iran and the prospect of an agreement between Washington and Tehran, Danon said these matters were for US President Donald Trump to decide. "That's a decision for the president to make. I can tell you that we will always do whatever is necessary to protect ourselves. We have proved it in the past. We will do it in the future. We have the capabilities to do that. The US has its own interests. And by the way, when I see the rhetoric coming out of Tehran in the last few weeks, they're not threatening only Israel. They are threatening American targets in the Middle East, American embassies, American personnel. So, it's not only about Israel, it's about the interest of the US," he said.

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance cited the war with Iran as the reason for the Republican Party's defeat in the November 3 midterm elections. He listed rising inflation and relations with Israel among the other reasons. He also emphasized that many Americans who supported Trump in 2024 voted for Democrats on Tuesday.
