Independent candidate for US President Diane Sare noted that the overwhelming majority of the American people are very unhappy with the rising cost of living

WASHINGTON, November 5. /TASS/. The administration of US President Donald Trump displayed arrogance by grossly underestimating the extent of American citizens’ dissatisfaction with the war against Iran and the resulting rise in prices, independent candidate for US President Diane Sare told TASS.

"The Democrats won a majority in both houses [in Congress] for a number of reasons, mostly due to anger at the Republicans, which was greatly underestimated by the arrogant Trump Administration. The overwhelming majority of the American people oppose the Iran war, and are very unhappy with the rising cost of living resulting from it," she said, commenting on the outcome of the midterm congressional elections.

"There is also great opposition to continuing to arm Israel, a state which the majority of Americans believe is committing war crimes, and close to 50% believe is committing genocide," she said, adding that the war against Iran "was a major factor in the election results."

"President Trump and his advisors greatly underestimated the anger of the American people, particularly those under 40, and announcing a phony cut-off of $4bn to Israel when there is a US-Israel military and technology merger embedded in the yet-to-be-passed National Defense Authorization Act, didn’t fool anyone," she stressed.

"The Democrats should beware that if they fail to dramatically change course (and I believe they will fail, because the mavericks are too few) by 2028, they will be just as hated," Sare argued. "More Americans have to realize that we have been on the same trajectory since September 11, 2001, and it appears to have nothing to do with which party is in the White House. It’s time for a major shift, and I think we have indications that the shift is coming, but not yet arrived."

She drew attention to the fact that "independent and minor party candidates, who typically are excluded from debates and given very little airtime became more than a swing factor in this race." "In a handful of house and senate races independent candidates didn’t win, but received over 30% of the vote. This is a growing trend due to a general distrust of both major parties," she stated.

The United States held its midterm elections on Tuesday. Voters elected primarily one-third of the Senate and the entire House of Representatives, as well as governors in 36 states and territories. Local elections were also held. Both chambers of Congress are currently controlled by the ruling Republican Party. The next Congress, the 120th, which will be formed following the elections, will begin its work on January 3, 2027. Democrats will hold majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the new Congress.
