Trump acknowledges Republicans’ election defeat was due to war with Iran
The US leader stressed he believes the war had been worth starting
WASHINGTON, November 4. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump said the Republicans’ defeat in the country’s midterm elections was "largely" due to the war with Iran and rising fuel prices.
Speaking to reporters at the construction site of the White House’s new ballroom, Trump was asked whether he agreed with Vice President JD Vance’s assessment that the war with Iran was to blame for the Republicans’ election defeat. "I think it's largely true because it drove the gasoline up a little bit short term, and probably it's true," he said.
However, he stressed he believes the war had been worth starting. "But at the same time, if I had to do again, I'd have to do it again because long term, it's the only answer. You cannot allow Iran to have a nuclear weapon," Trump said.
