Democrats will curb Trump’s policy toward Russia in event of their election win — expert
President of the American Committee for US-Russia Accord Katrina vanden Heuvel said that there is still a broad support for Ukraine in the party
WASHINGTON, November 4. /TASS/. Should the Democratic Party regain control of at least one chamber of the US Congress in the midterm elections, its lawmakers will oppose President Donald Trump’s decisions regarding Russia, Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor and publisher of The Nation and President of the American Committee for US-Russia Accord, told TASS.
"There’s still a broad support for Ukraine in the Democratic Party. If Democrats take both chambers or even one, watch this for more moves to try and push back against Trump’s recent actions to lower the pressure on Russia. I personally believe that all should be done to bring the Ukrainian war to an end," she said.
The United States is holding its midterm congressional elections, with one-third of the Senate and all seats in the House of Representatives contested. Voters are also electing governors in 36 states and territories. Republicans currently control both chambers of Congress.
