County Executive Ken Jenkins told CNN that the technical fault affected 332 polling stations across more than 40 municipalities

NEW YORK, November 3. /TASS/. Voting machines failed to scan up to 250,000 ballots in Westchester County, New York, during the US congressional midterm elections, CNN reported, citing County Executive Ken Jenkins.

The technical fault affected 332 polling stations across more than 40 municipalities, he said.

Earlier reports described problems with voting machines scanning ballots in the county. Authorities assured residents that everyone wishing to vote would be able to do so. Ballots would be placed in ballot boxes and counted later under established procedures.

The US midterm elections are taking place on November 3. Early voting began in various states several weeks before Election Day. Americans are electing 35 of the 100 senators and all 435 members of the House of Representatives.

Gubernatorial elections will be held in 36 states, while most states will also hold elections for attorneys general, state legislators and other officials.
