MINSK, November 3. /TASS/. The outer rims of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) are well protected from incursions by radicals, extremists and terrorist groups, while the core CIS countries have been de-risked from destabilization attempts, CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev said.

"Various manifestations creating preconditions for destabilization have so far been localized and neutralized across the nine core CIS countries, namely Russia, Belarus, the Central Asian and Transcaucasian republics," the CIS chief said, addressing the 4th Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.

So far, he noted, "the outer borders of the CIS are safely protected from incursions by radical and extremist elements and terrorist groups."

According to Lebedev, coordination toward thwarting and exposing terrorist and other subversive activities across the Commonwealth is conducted as part of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services and the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, involving all law enforcement agencies of member countries. Cooperation on security in the military sphere too plays an important role, he concluded.
