Four people taken to hospital from house near Kiev where people are forcibly held
The Ukrainian media suggested that the building was holding men who had been apprehended by staff of the territorial recruitment center, or military personnel who had deserted their units
MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Medics have been allowed to take four sick people from the basement of a single-family house in a village near Kiev where dozens of people are being held, a paramedic who was let inside the house said.
"They are releasing four patients and we are taking them to a hospital," she said on a video posted on the UNIAN agency’s Telegram channel. "One is in serious condition."
The woman said she doesn’t know how many people are held in the house, but when she went down to the basement, she saw about 25-30 people. When asked by reporters whether the people being held in the basement are military personnel or civilians, she said that "the people themselves do not know who they are or what their status is." Earlier, the Ukrainian media suggested that the building was holding men who had been apprehended by staff of the territorial recruitment center (TRC), or military personnel who had deserted their units. According to UNIAN, one of the men rescued from the building had a broken spine.
The Ukrainian media reported earlier on Monday that armed people are holding around 40 people in the basement of a single-family house in the village of Petropavlovskaya Borshshagovka near Kiev. An ambulance arrived at the site and a medical worker said that she had received a video featuring people in critical condition held in a basement. Many of them had injuries consistent with torture, she said. The armed people however did not let the medics in. Clashes erupted around the house and when locals tried to break the gate, tear gas was used against them. Later, the police said that the building housed servicemen of Ukraine’s National Guard.
