According to the news portal, Donald Trump wants to let negotiations play out

WASHINGTON, November 1. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump does not intend at this stage to resume military action against Iran immediately following the midterm Congressional elections scheduled for November 3, the US news outlet Axios reported.

According to its sources, Trump had a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday. They discussed "the state of U.S. negotiations with Iran and how quickly to return to combat," Axios wrote referring to one Israeli and one U.S. source.

The outlet reported that "Netanyahu is pressing Trump to strike Iran immediately after the midterm elections on Tuesday. But Trump, for now, wants to let negotiations play out — a strategy Netanyahu is concerned about."

An Israeli source called the conversation "tough," while a US official described it as "direct."

On Saturday, Trump stated that negotiations with Tehran are progressing well, but expressed doubt about Iran’s trustworthiness. He also declined to provide a definitive answer when asked whether he plans to resume military action against the Islamic Republic next week.

Earlier, Axios reported that a defeat for the Republican Party in the US midterm Congressional elections could prompt Trump to resume large-scale military operations against Iran. According to its data, opinions regarding potential attacks on the republic differ within the US administration. The MS NOW television channel previously noted, citing sources, that the US might resume strikes against Iran the day after the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November 3.
