Trump floats plans of naming Hormuz Strait into Trump Strait again
The US leader also added that more oil is currently flowing out of the waterway "that it was seven months"
WASHINGTON, October 29. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has again said he would like to rename the Strait of Hormuz the Trump Strait.
"I think we're going to rename [the Strait of Hormuz] the Trump Strait <…>. Well, we named a Gulf known the Gulf of Mexico into the Gulf of America. We're going to name that the Trump Strait at some point," he said, addressing a GOP rally in Ohio ahead of the midterms.
"We have a gulf. We have a lake. We might have a strait. We might do that. You think I'm kidding? You know, they thought that I was kidding when I named the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America. Oh, that's so funny! No, I said I'm going to do it," the US leader added.
According to Trump, more oil is currently flowing out of the waterway "that it was seven months." After the conflict with Iran ends, he continued, "the price of gasoline and the price of oil is going to go."
Earlier, the American leader signed executive orders renaming the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario as the Gulf of America and Lake America, respectively. However, Trump’s successors as president could sign executive orders reversing these changes.
