Russian-Slovak intergovernmental commission to meet in Moscow on October 26
The resumption of the commission’s activities "may create conditions for discussing the prospects for economic, scientific, technical, and other practical cooperation," he told TASS
MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. The Russian-Slovak intergovernmental commission on economic, scientific and technical cooperation will resume its work in Moscow on October 26, deputy speaker of the Slovak parliament, Tibor Gaspar, said.
"As for the concrete date of the meeting, it will take place in Moscow on October 26, 2026," he said.
The resumption of the commission’s activities "may create conditions for discussing the prospects for economic, scientific, technical, and other practical cooperation," he told TASS. "The specific areas and scope of cooperation will depend on agreements between the sides, as well as on the current legal norms and Slovakia’s international obligations. Regular expert dialogue can help identify areas of mutual interest and maintain channels of communication even amid a complex international situation."
According to the Slovak senior lawmaker, his country and Russia have resumed preparations for the meeting of the commission which suspended its activities in 2022. He recalled that the country’s Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar had been appointed the commission’s Slovak co-chair back in May 2026. On August 20, he held a preliminary meeting with the Russian co-chair, Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov to discuss organizational issues.
An agreement to resume the activities of the intergovernmental commission was reached by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in 2025.
