PYONGYANG, October 24. /TASS/. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has named the creation of the world’s most powerful armed forces in the country as one of his top priorities, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported after the third meeting of company commanders of the Korean People’s Army on October 22-23.

"The Central Committee of the Party has set the task of creating the world’s strongest armed forces as one of the top priorities and realistic goals to be achieved in the new planned period," the agency quoted Kim Jong Un as saying.

He explained that this is precisely why the first army·wide event after the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea was a meeting of company commanders. The North Korean leader said that companies are the main link in strengthening the Korean People’s Army, and improving their combat effectiveness will make it possible to qualitatively transform the country’s armed forces in the shortest possible time. He set the task of transforming all companies into elite combat units capable of independently carrying out various combat missions.

"To create the strongest army by training the strongest companies and to accelerate the military revolution of our model," Kim Jong Un formulated the main principle of the meeting. He also emphasized the need to improve combat training, strengthen military discipline, and enhance the professional qualities of commanders.

The event was attended by company commanders, Defense Minister Kim Song·gi, Chief of the General Staff Ri Yong·gil, and other representatives of the military leadership. After the meeting, an award ceremony was held to recognize the outstanding service members.
