Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia call on Houthis to stop attacks on Saudi Arabia
The foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia also emphasized that the Israeli occupation is the main source of instability in the region and beyond
ANKARA, October 24. /TASS/. Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia have condemned the Houthi attacks on the kingdom, including strikes against the civilians, infrastructure, and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and the Bab·el·Mandeb Strait, a joint statement by the foreign ministers after a meeting in Istanbul said.
"The ministers have condemned in the strongest terms the unacceptable escalation by the Houthis, which has exacerbated humanitarian suffering. They also condemned the ongoing Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, particularly on the civilian population and infrastructure, and the attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the Bab·el·Mandeb Strait," the statement issued by the Turkish foreign ministry said.
The foreign ministers expressed "full solidarity with the government of Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia" and "called on the Houthis to immediately cease all military actions, threats, and attacks and return to the political process" to resolve the conflict.
The foreign ministers "emphasized that the Israeli occupation is the main source of instability in the region and beyond. The ministers called for an immediate end to the ongoing Israeli violence, as well as to attempts to change the legal and historical status of Jerusalem and to put an end to further destruction and the humanitarian tragedy in Palestine. They condemned [Israel’s] previous and current settlement activities in the West Bank and in Jerusalem, as well as settler violence against Palestinians," the statement says. The foreign ministers also "stressed the urgent need to ensure an uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza and to rebuild the region."
