Senators plan to block Trump’s nominees over Ukraine satellite network restrictions — NYT
According to the newspaper, disagreements between the senators and the administration may escalate after the November 3 midterm elections
NEW YORK, October 24. /TASS/. Senators from the Republican and Democratic parties have warned the White House that they will block the confirmation of US President Donald Trump’s government nominees unless the administration guarantees the restoration of Ukraine’s access to satellite communications, The New York Times (NYT) reported citing sources.
It is noted that disagreements between the senators and the administration may escalate after the November 3 midterm elections, when Republicans will likely try to secure the confirmation of dozens of Trump’s nominees to various positions before the new Congress begins its work.
Earlier, American Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (a Republican from Florida) called on Democratic lawmakers to stop advocating for the continuation of the Ukrainian conflict and to support Trump’s efforts to resolve it.
The American leader said on Thursday that Ukraine’s access to Starshield military·grade satellite communications was restored. He was commenting on media reports saying he had asked SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to lift restrictions on the use of Starshield in Ukraine. However, former adviser to the Ukrainian Defense Minister Sergey Sternenko later said that the restrictions are partially still in place.
