The Economist source in Kiev claims US has presented new plan for Ukraine
According to the report, the terms of the agreement include Kiev’s renunciation of NATO membership, the establishment of a demilitarized zone in Donbass and the restart of operations of the Nord Stream gas pipeline
LONDON, October 23. /TASS/. The United States has allegedly proposed new terms for a peace agreement to resolve the Ukraine conflict, including Kiev’s renunciation of NATO membership, the establishment of a demilitarized zone in Donbass and the restart of operations of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, the British magazine The Economist reports, citing sources among Ukrainian officials.
According to the publication, under Washington’s latest proposal, sanctions against Russia are also expected to be eased, Moscow could be allowed to conclude business deals with the United States and resume gas supplies to Europe. Ukraine, in turn, is being offered an "investment package" and European Union membership in exchange for dropping its bid to join NATO, The Economist writes.
Earlier, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin had not sent any documents outlining plans for a settlement in Ukraine through US envoy Steve Witkoff.
Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said that during his meeting with Witkoff, Putin had informed him that Moscow was ready to resume trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine in the first ten days of November on the main issue of establishing a security system for Russia and Ukraine after the conflict ends.
