Iran ready for war of attrition against US, says Security Council official
According to Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei, the standoff over the Strait of Hormuz has become a new pretext for Washington to prolong the war
WASHINGTON, October 22. /TASS/. The United States has fallen into a trap in the Middle East; however, a war of attrition will play into the hands of Iran, which possesses a vast network of underground facilities and full-cycle production plants, Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council has stated.
"A war of attrition," he said, "will work to Iran’s advantage and to America’s detriment. In a prolonged war, the central question is whether a country can sustain a continuous cycle of production, deployment, and response. We have shown that, even months after the war began, we can still impose costs on the other side," he said in an interview with Drop Site.
Rezaei added that the standoff over the Strait of Hormuz has become a new pretext for Washington to prolong the war. Tehran, however, does not intend to relinquish its leverage until the American side fulfills its commitments.
