Trump wants to conclude Ukraine peace deal during G20 summit — The Atlantic
According to The Atlantic, Donald Trump "has visions" of standing between Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky as they sign a peace deal
WASHINGTON, October 21. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump would like to conclude an agreement that settles the Ukrainian conflict during the G20 summit in Miami, Florida, in mid-December, The Atlantic wrote.
"Trump’s ideal timeline for some sort of Russia-Ukraine peace agreement <…> would be in December at the G20 summit," the article says.
According to the report, Trump "has visions" of standing between Putin and Zelensky as they sign a peace deal, "even if he has to strong-arm Ukraine to do it." Such an event "would take place at one of Trump’s own properties," at his golf course just outside of Miami.
At the same time, Trump said on October 19 that someone other than Zelensky should negotiate on the part of Ukraine. After that, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said that "it is important for us to make sure there is a legitimate representative of the authorities who would be ready to take responsibility and make the decisions required to end the conflict."
On October 16, Trump said that he would "certainly" like to see his Russian counterpart at the G20 summit, but doesn’t know whether he would come. Peskov earlier told TASS that the decision on whether Putin will attend the Miami summit in person has not yet been made.
