Meanwhile, an anti-government protest was held in the capital Rome. The event was organized by the Italian General Confederation of Labor (CGIL). The union’s leader Maurizio Landini accused the government of investing exclusively in armaments, while keeping wages law amid the rising cost of living. He announced that a general strike will take place on November 20. Another general strike in Italy has already been scheduled for October 30, coinciding with a major international action by European port workers protesting the war economy and weapons shipments.
