Maximilian Krah stressed that Germany should stop financially supporting Kiev and demand a compensation from Ukraine

ANKARA, October 16. /TASS/. Europe is undermining its own future because of its confrontation with Russia and economic mismanagement, German lawmaker Maximilian Krah told Turkey’s Clash Report news portal in an interview.

Krah, who is a member of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party said the worst-case scenario for Germany would be if Chancellor Friedrich Merz takes the course towards confrontation with Moscow, triggers its response and then invokes wartime conditions to counter AfD.

"Merz is now a dangerous man because he has no hesitation about bringing all of Europe into war with Russia," the portal quoted him as saying.

Commenting on the situation in Ukraine, the lawmaker said Germany should stop financially supporting Kiev and demand a compensation from Ukraine. He views the Russia-US diesel fuel deal as a sign that the conflict in Ukraine is approaching its end.

Among economic problems that the European Union is facing at this point, Krah named the Greek bailout and a potential financial crisis in France, which may become a "decisive test for the European system."

He criticized a system in which Germany, in his view, "repeatedly accepts obligations that weaken its own position."

The lawmaker also commented on the economic situation in Germany and described his nation as "stagnant, lacking a credible vision for growth and operating at roughly its 2019 economic level."

The portal writes that the lawmaker doubts whether German carmakers Volkswagen, BMW, and Mercedes could be saved. In his view, at this point they cannot compete with China in the segment of electric vehicles.
