VATICAN CITY, October 13. /TASS/. Pope Leo XIV has undergone surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung, according to a statement by his doctors Luigi Carbone and Stefano Margaritora that was released by the Holy See Press Office.
"An intraoperative histological examination confirmed the diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma (cancerous tumor - TASS), as suspected from the preoperative examinations," the statement says. "To ensure a radical resection, the lower lobe of the right lung was removed using a video-assisted technique."
