NATO says it has no plans to blockade Kaliningrad

ROME, October 10. /TASS/. NATO Military Committee Chairman Giuseppe Cavo Dragone has stated that the North Atlantic Alliance has no plans to blockade Kaliningrad.

"Regarding Kaliningrad, everything should be clear: NATO is not preparing any blockade. Reports of such a threat are based on a scenario that does not exist," he said in an interview with La Repubblica newspaper.

According to the military official, the alliance is not seeking a confrontation but has sufficient arsenals and military power to provide effective deterrence and respond swiftly in the event of aggression. He also noted that the situation on NATO’s eastern flank was "serious but under control."

At the plenary session of the 23rd meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that in the event of a direct attack on Russia, specifically against the Kaliningrad Region or other Russian regions, the issue of using all weapons available to the Russian Armed Forces would inevitably and immediately come to the fore.
