DOHA, October 8. /TASS/. Debris from a ballistic missile launched by Yemen’s rebel Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) and intercepted by air defenses damaged a kindergarten and a medical complex in Riyadh, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing a spokesman for the kingdom’s Civil Defense Directorate.
"Riyadh Civil Defense is dealing with the aftermath of the fall of ballistic missile debris following its interception and destruction. [The missile] was launched by Houthi terrorists," the agency quoted the official as saying. The statement said the incident "caused material damage to a kindergarten and a medical clinic complex." No information about possible casualties was provided.
Earlier, the movement’s military spokesman Yahya Saria stated that the Houthis of Yemen’s Ansar Allah rebel group struck Riyadh International Airport with a ballistic missile. According to the Houthi spokesman, the direct hit brought air traffic at the Saudi capital’s airport to a halt.
