Trump interrupted 12 times in 45 minutes during speech in staunchly Republican Texas
Police escorted one of the protesters out of the venue in handcuffs
WASHINGTON, October 8. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump was interrupted by 12 people during the first 45 minutes of his speech to supporters in Texas, which is considered one of the key Republican-leaning states, the White House press pool reported, noting that the American leader continued his speech nevertheless.
Police escorted one of the protesters out of the venue in handcuffs. Others were escorted out without handcuffs, or left on their own. A Trump supporter attacked one of the protesters as he was leaving the hall. "These are paid protesters. They're paid by enemies of our nation. Now, I'm telling you, they pay them for this," the US leader emphasized.
The US president is traveling across the country and speaking to his supporters ahead of the US midterm congressional elections, which will take place on November 3. In these elections, 33 of the 100 members of the Senate (the upper house of the US Congress) and all 435 members of the House of Representatives (the lower house of Congress) will be up for re-election. Republicans currently control both houses of Congress.
