DOHA, October 6. /TASS/. Ten crew members have been evacuated from a Panama-flagged commercial vessel that was attacked off the coast of Oman’s Musandam governorate, the country’s Defense Ministry said.

"The Royal Air Force of Oman <...> carried out a medical evacuation of ten crew members from the commercial vessel On Peace <...> after it was attacked some nine nautical miles northeast of [the settlement of] Lima," it said, adding that the attack caused a fire onboard the vessel. The injured seafarers were airlifted to a hospital in the city of Khasab to receive the necessary medical care.

The Indian Foreign Ministry said earlier that the vessel was hit by a projectile when it was navigating through the Strait of Hormuz. Twelve out of its 19 crew members were injured. Eleven crew members are Indian nationals. New Delhi expressed profound concern over continuing attacks on commercial ships in the region and called for an immediate cessation of strikes against civilian infrastructure and the resumption of free navigation.
