Iran boosts arms production capacities by 2.5 times — defense ministry
Reza Talaei-Nik highlighted that production of separate types of weapons more than tripled in the reported period
TUNIS, October 6. /TASS/. Iran has increased its weapons production capacities 2.5-fold compared to the period that preceded its conflict with the United States, the official spokesman for the Islamic Republic’s defense ministry, Brig. Gen. Reza Talaei-Nik, said.
"Iran’s weapons production capacity has reached 2.5 times its level before the war," the Tasnim news agency quoted him as saying.
The spokesman went on to say that production of separate types of weapons, which involves the private sector, more than tripled in the reported period.
"If the enemy makes a wrong calculation, it will definitely face more advanced weapons and a heavy response from the Armed Forces," Talaei-Nik said.
The US and Israel began a war with Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the US resumed large-scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached regarding the Strait of Hormuz, through which approximately 25% of global oil trade and about 20% of liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade pass. Subsequently, the US administration effectively signaled an end to the use of large-scale military force against Iran, shifting toward an attempt to economically strangle the country through sanctions.
