The US vice president also effectively acknowledged that US B-1 strategic bombers were withdrawn from Fairford Air Base due to the incident, seemingly contradicting what US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said earlier.

WASHINGTON, October 5. /TASS/. US Vice President JD Vance believes Iran played a hand in the incident at Fairford Air Base in the UK.

"We do feel with some confidence that the Iranians are, you know, they're trying to do what the Iranian state has done for 49 years, which is engaged in acts of terrorism against the United States and others," he told reporters, commenting on the incident at Fairford.

He also effectively acknowledged that US B-1 strategic bombers were withdrawn from Fairford Air Base due to the incident, seemingly contradicting what US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had said earlier.

"What you saw there is the secretary of war, out of an abundance of caution, trying to protect our guys," Vance said.
