Iran to decide on sending uranium to Russia based on national interests — Foreign Ministry
On October 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow’s proposal to transfer enriched uranium from Iran to Russia remained on the table
TEHRAN, October 4. /TASS/. Iran is aware of Russia’s proposals to transfer enriched uranium to Russia but will make its decisions based on its national interests, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said at a briefing.
"We are in contact with Russia and have heard the proposal [to transfer highly enriched uranium], but I should note that ultimately we must make decisions based on our national interests," he said when asked why Iran had neither accepted nor rejected Moscow’s proposals.
Baghaei noted that Iran always holds consultations on its nuclear program with Russia and China as permanent members of the UN Security Council. "Whatever the developments, we will certainly coordinate our actions with both Russia and China," he added.
