UAE attorney-general classifies Flydubai incident as terrorist attack

DOHA, October 3. /TASS/. The incident aboard a Flydubai aircraft flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv that made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, has been classified as a terrorist attack, UAE Attorney-General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said.

The investigation found that the co-pilot who attacked the captain had planned to carry out a terrorist attack, the state-run WAM news agency quoted Al Shamsi as saying. The suspect struck the captain with an emergency crash axe kept in the cockpit for use in unforeseen circumstances. He then attempted to take control of the aircraft.

Al Shamsi stressed that the investigation is still ongoing.
