Brunei plans to expand security cooperation with Russia — ambassador

MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. Bandar Seri Begawan intends to expand cooperation with Moscow in many areas, including security, Brunei Darussalam’s Ambassador to Russia Husaini Alauddin said.
"At a time of uncertainty in international affairs, it is very important that both countries value peace, stability and dialogue. We appreciate Russia’s commitment to national sovereignty and its respect for international law," the diplomat said at the opening of an exhibition at the Russian Foreign Ministry marking the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Brunei. The ambassador said his country "will continue doing everything possible to strengthen its partnership with Russia, ensuring peace, prosperity and progress for the benefit of both nations."
"Over 35 years, cooperation has expanded into various areas, including defense, energy and sports," Husaini Alauddin said. "We believe these ties must be deepened further. We will continue strengthening cooperation, particularly in the critically important areas of food and security," he stressed.
"Russia attracts us not only with its landscapes, but also because we see that we share common values," the ambassador noted.
