NEW YORK, September 30. /TASS/. More than half of US citizens would like to see the Democrats win a majority in the House of Representatives following the midterm congressional elections, according to a survey conducted by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

A total of 51% of respondents said that they would like the Democratic Party to win a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, while 39% said they would prefer the Republicans. These results differ from those of a survey conducted by the same pollster in the first half of September, when 49% and 38% of respondents supported the Democrats and Republicans, respectively.

Meanwhile, 34% of survey participants supported US President Donald Trump’s policies, while 61% of respondents disapproved of the head of state’s actions.

The poll was conducted on September 24-27 among 1,032 registered voters, with a margin of error of approximately 3.8 percentage points.

The US midterm congressional elections will take place on November 3. In these elections, 33 of the 100 members of the Senate and all 435 members of the House of Representatives will be up for re-election. Republicans currently control both chambers of Congress.
