BRUSSELS, September 28. /TASS/. EU foreign policy Chief Kaja Kallas urges member states still holding Patriot missiles to send them to Kiev in exchange for potential future deliveries.

The EU's top diplomat said upon arriving at a meeting of EU defense ministers that Ukraine is in urgent need of air defense and called on EU countries that still have Patriot missile stocks to send them to Ukraine without delay in exchange for newly produced missiles at a later date.

The call is mainly aimed at Greece and Spain, which, according to European media reports, still have some missile stocks. Politico earlier said that some of Greece’s missiles are reportedly approaching their expiration dates. Athens, however, is not ready to hand over its final reserve to Ukraine, as this would leave the country defenseless in the event of a conflict with Turkey, while the timing of new deliveries remains highly uncertain due to a global shortage of air defense systems.
