MOSCOW, September 28. /TASS/. Iran and Russia are currently experiencing an upswing in bilateral relations, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said Monday.

"Our countries are neighbors, but we have also had wars, and that is part of our history. There were also periods when we had really good relations. There were times when third countries interfered in our relations and tried to put obstacles in our way. <…> But now we are truly experiencing an upswing in our relations, and what a wonderful upswing it is," the diplomat said at the "Role of Culture in Russian-Iranian Cooperation" forum at the Russian State University for the Humanities.

The ambassador emphasized that the leaders of the two countries maintain regular contacts, consistently supporting bilateral dialogue at the highest level.
