THE HAGUE, September 27. /TASS/. More than 5,000 people took part in a nationwide demonstration in Amsterdam against the Dutch authorities’ push toward militarization, NOS reported, citing the organizers.

According to the organizers, the protest, held under the slogan "Stop the War Fever," was the first successful demonstration of its kind. Following a rally in Dam Square, thousands of demonstrators marched through central Amsterdam to Museumplein.

On January 30, the leaders of the political parties forming the Netherlands’ new governing coalition - the social-liberal Democrats 66 party, the Christian Democrats, and the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy - unveiled their coalition agreement. The document states that the government plans to provide 3 bln euros annually in support for Ukraine over the next three years and aims to raise military spending to NATO’s target of 3.5% of GDP. At the same time, spending on social benefits, healthcare, and elderly care is set to be reduced.
