TOKYO, September 26. /TASS/. Typhon missile systems, which were deployed at Japan's Kanoya air field in Kagoshima Prefecture during the exercises in June and September, will be transferred to Kadena air force base in Okinawa after the maneuvers are over, the Defense Ministry said.

They will be transferred by C-17 transport aircraft "to storage at Kadena base" by mid-October. However, it said that the US has no plans to keep them in Japan for ever.

"The American side has explained that storing this facility at Kadena air base is not a permanent deployment in Japan," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, it was reported that the US will deploy Typhon systems at the Kanoya air base of the Japan Self·Defense Forces in Kagoshima Prefecture for exercises between June and September. Along with the Typhon systems, HIMARS multiple rocket launchers will also be deployed during the maneuvers.

Russia demanded that Japan withdraw the Typhon systems, which are designed to launch medium-and shorter-range missiles, from the country. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that drills involving the deployment of Typhons threaten Russia’s interests and security in the region.
