UN, September 26. /TASS/. The Middle Eastern countries that assisted the United States and Israel in attacking Iran are directly responsible for the assault, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

"Responsibility also rests squarely with those regional states that, in flagrant disregard of the principles of good neighbor, of good neighborliness, and in violation of their international obligations under the UN Charter, enabled and facilitated the aggression by opening their territory, military bases, airspace, and logistical and intelligence infrastructure to the aggressors," he said.

The United States and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large·scale strikes against Iran, accusing it of violating the agreements on the Strait of Hormuz. Before the conflict began, about a quarter of the world’s oil trade and about 20% of liquefied natural gas were transported through it.
